O'Neil's New Job

Hobbs/Boutee' After four years of service to CSU Stanislaus, Dr. Tom O'Neil, the Director of University Extended Education is leaving. And he's heading for the Big Apple. O'Neil is going to work for the New York Institute of Technology. "I've had the opportunity to work with some great people here," O'Neil said. "But I have to take advantage of this opportunity." One of his most successful accomplishments during his tenure was creating a partnership with the Arab American University in Jenin, Jordan. "I will miss his creative vision and his teamwork efforts," Linda Bunney-Sarhad, the Director of the Institute for International Studies, said. O'Neil was also involved in restructuring and creating certificate programs. These programs included paralegal studies, fire science, and practical brewing applications. These certificate programs are intended to provide graduates with real world techniques. A new interim dean will take his place within the next month, according to Provost Richard Curry. The title will be upgraded from director to dean so that the position can be a part of the board of deans and work closer with the Provost. A nation-wide search will take place for a permanent replacement.
